Staff – 

Pastor – Rev Steven B Brand - I have been the pastor since October of 2012. Before coming to Newark I was the pastor of Wickliffe Presbyterian, just east of Cleveland for 3 years. I was born and raised in Elyria Ohio. I am a graduate of Sheffield High School, Ohio University, and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. At Ohio University I received my Bachelors in Political Science and much more importantly met my wife Diana. Diana and I have been married for 12 years. She is a paralegal and works about a block away at Reese, Pyle, Drake & Myeyer. We have a 6 year old son Calvin and a 2 year old daughter named Katelynn. He is named after Calvin and Hobbs and does his best to model his namesake. She is named as a tie in to Princess Kate as Diana was named after Princess Diana. We also have a cat named Maggie.  

Custodian – Gary Collins – Gary, has been a lifelong resident of Newark, Ohio and a business owner of Collins Masonry and The Angel Valley Company for more than 40 years. He is married to Debora (Green) Collins for 38 years and has two daughters Ginger Collins Varner and Angela Collins Schlesiona. Four grandchildren, Noah, Baylee, Jaden, and Michael. Gary is an avid hunter and loves to garden. He has Cherokee and Irish heritage and with roots in Arkansas, where is Cherokee grandmother, who was on the Trail of Tears, met she her Irish husband, Ed Collins in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and the rest is history. He has worked hard all of his life and loves people.

Church Secretary - Sheri Bogardus - Sheri has been married 44 yrs. and has two grown daughters; Andrea and Danielle. They all attend First Baptist Church Heath and have been there since 1974. Sheri also has three grandchildren; a set of boy/girl twins that are 18 yrs. old and a 6 yr. old grandson. Sheri loves singing and has been in a gospel trio for three years now and they sing weekly at different Senior Living facilities around the area. She leads the Senior Ministry at her church and loves crafts and decorating. 

Organist – Ann Robinson – Ann Marie Robinson, began playing organ at age 12 St. Paul's UCC in Somerset, PA. Undergrad School Indiana University of PA... Piano major/ voice and organ minor 1980. Teacher in Northridge/ Newark City Schools 33 years. Graduate School 1997 Master of Arts in Elementary/ Secondary Education. Son, Adam Porsch and grandchild on the way;-) Married to Del Robinson 23 years until his passing Jan 2013. Volunteer for Hospice of Central Ohio and Musical Director for Children's Grief Camp. Member of New-Ark Emmaus Community and Community Leadership Chair.

Church Structure-

Session – Session is the main governing body of the church and is made up of 9 church Elders elected by the congregation to 3 year terms. Each elder serves as the chair of one of the church’s committees. They are:

Budget & Finance – Elder Keith Hare– Manages the church’s finances. Elder Barb Jobes - Treasurer. 

Christian Education – Elder Ed Jobes – Maintains educational services for people of all ages.

Church Life – Elder Priscilla Hare – Encourages fellowship within the congregation.

Congregational Care - Elder Ann Robinson - Looks out for the needs of the congregation. 

Evangelism & Outreach – Elder Sandy Noland – Makes sure that the church is helping those in need, both physical and Spiritual.

Nominations & Personnel – Elder Louise Whitis – Seeks appropriate individuals to serve church offices. Seeks the efficiency and effectiveness of church staff.

Property – Elder Rose Gibson – The upkeep and maintenance of the church structures and grounds.

Fundraising & Discerning – Elder Karen Britcher - Helping to make sure that our church has the funds it needs for doing its mission. Making sure our church is heading the direction God would want it to be. 

Worship – Elder  Carolyn Durr – Makes sure that we worship the Lord with heart and soul.
